Dear Gellert,
親愛的蓋勒特，
It would seem I have upset you again. I can only ask your iveness. It was truly not my intent to do so.
我好像又惹你生氣了，現在我只盼望著得到你的原諒。那真的並不是我本來的想法。
England remains at peace and well-potted. Old Headmaster Dippett has announced his retirement, and I'll be filling his position—immensely preferable employment to everything our Ministry keeps badgering me into. We'll have to start the search for a new Transfiguration teacher soon, I suppose. I've seen a few excellent Quidditch games these past few years, including one which ended in a proposal of marriage, and even the Muggles are doing well.
英格蘭仍舊是一片寧靜，也有了些零零星星的田野了。老校長迪佩特已經宣布退休，我將補上他的空位——對於魔法部一直纏著我去做的那個職位而言，這顯然要好得多。我想，不久之後，我們就得重新尋找一位新變形課教授了。過去的幾年裏，我看了幾場很不錯的魁地奇比賽，其中一個還是以求婚收尾，甚至就連麻瓜們也過得不錯。

1.那個well-potted在再修訂的之後我終於弄懂是怎麽回事了！！！第九封信中AD以一種激動而氣憤的情緒說了“No potted fields here around Hogwarts”（霍格沃茲周圍並無零星的田野），這次於是就變成了“well-pottted”，AD其實就是在暗戳戳地服軟。
2.“Shall we go in circles like this forever”（我們真的要永遠在這裏兜圈子嗎？）在《海浪》中出現過類似的句子，不知道原作太太是不是有意這樣寫的。《海浪》上的原句——“因此，我們總是沒完沒了地兜圈子，說一些無關緊要的話，還說得有板有眼的。”
